JULY 24, 2019 Oceanside, CA –– IntelleXual Entertainment in association with Preposterous Films and Gem Canyon Productions is pleased to announce pre-production has begun on Hazard Highway, the first short horror film in an on-going anthology of short horror films with production commencing in August. Hazard Highway (working title) is from first time writer and director Michael Shane Bowles. David S. Dawson is executive producing with Theresa Dawson, Joe Castanho and Larry Poole producing.
“The horror genre is a wonderful space to play in,” states David S. Dawson. “Horror films allow us to tell stories that get to the primal and raw corners of human nature. Our goal is to produce Hazard Highway as our proof-of-concept to use as part of our pitch to investors and distributors for our anthology of short horror films concept.”
The production team selected Hazard Highway as their first project and currently have scripts from writers David S. Dawson, Jeff M. Zook, and Jordan Jacobo for future ‘episodes’. Several additional scripts are also in the review phase from additional writers.
San Diego actress Lexsy McKowen has been selected to portray Elizabeth in Hazard Highway. “I am absolutely thrilled to take on this role and to push myself as an actress to bring Elizabeth to life,” stated Ms. McKowen on learning she had won the role.
According to Mr. Dawson, “We had several strong performers make it through to the final stage of our auditions. Each one gave us a distinct and unique portrayal of the character. In the end Lexsy stood out as the actress who most embodied the role and we are pleased that she has accepted the part.”
Hazard Highway will commence with principle photography in August. Additional crew and locations are being finalized now.
